Each month we will try to bring you some news about those creative.
It might be news of a new writer, a poet, an amazing artist or a photographer. If you know of one that deserves our support then please contact thestalbanspoet@gmail. We might surprise you with an interview and tell the world of someone’s remarkable creative journey.
This month we would like to publish a poem by international war poet Marko. It tells of those that encourage others to war but they themselves will never chose to fight in any battlefield: the “pretty things.” Of those, seemingly, overfond at actively pushing others forward to fight: “like dogs of war that fight and die.” Men and women found, “fighting steel toed tracks” of an industrialised army – whilst the “Pretty Things” stay at home basking in the sun under their linen parasols.
Commended. TSAP.

Linen parasols. Not for you, you pretty things. Not for you the sight of dogs at war, that fight and die, the smell of blood, of mud and sweet decay. Not for you, you pretty things. Not for you the touch of dying hands, clinging to life, when cries of freedom lie bayoneted. Not for you, you pretty things. Not for you the rumble of the tank, the scream of Man versus steel-toed tracks, playing hide and seek. Not for you, you pretty things. Not for you the ugly - just bisque dolls, painted faces, summer dresses and linen parasols.
This poem was published in 2022.
